Meet Scott Strader

Scott Strader, Mercury Metal Sculptor

Scott Strader is a BFA graduate of GSU and an MFA graduate of Georgia State University.

From 1990-95, Scott was the assistant to Atlanta artist Caroline Monatgue and he is now the owner of Mercury Metals, Inc. specializing in metal fabrication and art installation.

According to Strader, “All of my work deals with tension and balance. I try to give each piece a sense of movement. The use of stainless and aluminum is very important to me because of its sense of permanence. I am meticulous about craftsmanship and the fabrication of each piece. In my latest work, I am attempting to hide all of my welds to give the piece a look of being poured as opposed to being fabricated.”
